The Location (with map)

Marama Lodge is situated on the corner of State Highway 8 and Breakneck Road. When travelling from Dunedin you will see our sign post on the left just before you enter Lawrence. When coming from Queenstown we are on the right just outside Lawrence.

The Lodge and Cottage are on the upper portion ¼ of the property 10mt above the  rest which is flat. Entrance from Sowerby St (which also is known as State Highway 8) also from Thurso Street  on the rear of the property. We have extended Thurso Street on the south side to give access to the lower section and the workshop. Down below the Lodge to the north is the main garden with around 40 big trees. Birch, Oak, A Rimu, Linden (Lime),  Lawsoniana one which is known locally as the 12 Apostle Tree as it has 12 big leaders (now only 11.1/2 as a section fell off one 10 years ago - must have been Judas !), English beech, Chestnut, Douglas Fir, and in the middle of that sits the tennis court and children’s playground. The eastern half has the Church and Workshop surrounded by open lawns and more big trees around the boundary.  Walnut, Rhododendrons, Eucalyptus, White Spire have all been planted on the eastern boundary. Hawthorn and a grove of Larch, a Peony Garden, a giant Holly and a very big rhododendron. There is a large Macrocarpa complete with a tree hut. Down Thurso Street we have a row of Hazelnut and some fruit trees.
